Who
accompanied Joshua in seaching out the land occupied by the sons
of Anak?
Shari's answer for last week's question:
Praise
the Lord! (Answer) Caleb son of Jephunneh. Numbers 13:26-33 Numbers
13:30
And Caleb stilled the people before Moses and said, Let us go up
and at once and possess it for we are well able to overcome it.
Why
were there specifically 120 people present in the Upper Room?
Petrina's answer for last week's question:
according to ruth 4:1-2, boaz took ten men who represented the governing
body of the town. the "elders" who decided and judged affairs. now
in acts 2, when the holy ghost fell upon those 120 in the upper
room, they represented the church which is made up of all the jews
and gentiles together. if you go all the way back, all of us sprang
from noah, but so that all of us come from one of the 12 tribes
of israel. okay, 12 times 10 is 120, so the 120 is a representation
of all nations and kindered that are now entered into the body of
Christ! whew!
Sis. Hadassah's note: Interesting observation Sis. Petrina! It
is customary when Jews are joined together in a prayer group there
must be present 10 men/elders. This is one "minyan". So
a representative group of 10 men from each tribe equals 120.
Where
is the genealogy of Jesus listed, but more importantly, why is it
even mentioned? Petrina's answer for last week's question: shalom!
here goes... the genealogy of Jesus is listed in two books: mathew
1:1-17 and luke 3:23-38 matthew being written to the jews traced
jesus through from abraham and david's line proving him to be the
son of David. luke traced jesus through adam, proving him to be
the son of God. these were all important because they fulfilled
all of the prophecies of the coming messiah. for example seed of
isaac (gen 17:19 fulfilled in math 1:2), seed of jacob (num 24:17
fulfilled in luke 3:34) descended from the tribe of judah (gen 49:10,
fulfilled in luke 3:33), heir to the throne of david (is 9:7 fulfilled
in math 1:1). NOBODY FULFILLED ALL OF THESE PROPHECIES BUT JESUS!
HE IS THE ONE, TRUE GOD AND ETERNAL LIFE! mazel tov! sis t

Who/which
Apostle had the most impressive resume?
Petrina's answer for last week's question:
---most impressive resume? well, I think it would have to be apostle
paul he said himself, when giving his creditials: "..if any other
man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
cirumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of
Benjamin, an Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; concerning
zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is
in the law, blameless..." Philippians 3:4-6 y
Yes, Apostle Paul really had it going on, in the flesh, but thank
God he realized that it was all nothing compared to the excellency
of the knowledge of Christ Jesus!

Who/what
caused female bears to come out of the woods to devour someone?
What was the Day of Atonement? Should Jewish Believers observe it
today?
Crystal's
answer for that week's question:
The observance of The Day of Atonemnet is commanded in Lev.23:27-28
to all of the House of Israel.
In
Acts 21:20-25 the Elders of the Church admonish Apostle Paul,
in order to stop the talk among Jewish Believers still "zealous
of the Law", that Paul no longer observed the Law and that
he "teaches all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake
Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their childeren,
neither to walk after the customs". So he was instructed by
the Church Elders to go with the other men who had a "vow on
them" and to be "observant" as they were in
order to demonstrate that "that thou thyself also walkest orderly,
and keepest the law".
It would stand to reason that Paul would also observe the Day of
Atonement or Yom Kippur, as this was also part of the Law.
G-d Bless you.

Question: Were there HOLY female prophets in the Bible?
Monday March 27, 2000
Please define the term contrite, (what does it mean) as used by our
prophet Isaiah. And where is it found in the Bible?
Sis. Shari Hart
Praise Ye the Lord: The term contrite is defined as stricken, smitten,
to be crushed, broken or to be shattered. In the book of Isaiah
the term is used in two passages of scripture:
Isaiah 57:15
.....For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity,
whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also
that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the heart of the
contrite ones.
Here the term "contrite" is in the Hebrew (Daka) meaning
to crush, to be
crushed, be broken, to be shattered.
Isaiah 66:2.......For all those things hath mine hand made, and all
those things have been saith the Lord but to this man will I look,
even to him
that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.
Here the term "contrite" is in the Hebrew (Hkn) meaning
to stricken or
smitten. The term contrite can also be found in one of the famous
Psalms we use when
ministering repentance - Psalms 51:17.

This week's question: What is the single most misquoted scripture
by Trinitarians in regard to water baptism in Jesus' Name? And what
is the error?
Deadline: Monday, March 20, 2000.
Sis. Petrina Miller
Shalom! matth. 28:19 the error: the word "name" is singular
indicating that there is only one name for the three parts of the
godhead (Father, Son , Holy Ghost)...and that name is of course
JESUS! the trinitarians use this as a formula and are doing the
"letter of the law", but are missing the power of the
name. mazel tov!
Sis. Sonya Forbes.... Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Ghost: This scripture is misquoted the most because
many Trinitarians believe that you should repeat this scripture
in the very act of baptism but they fail to do what the scripture
says to do according to what Jesus' disciples did thereafter. The
disciples baptized in the name of Jesus. They say the name Jesus
when they are baptizing a particular candidate.Jesus was Father
in creation, Son in redemption and Holy Ghost in the church.Baptizing
in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost would be baptizing
in Jesus' titles.

Question for March 13:
Is the idea (or concept) of the "Bride of Christ"
found only in the New Testament?
Deadline: Monday, March 13, 2000.
Sis. Sonya Forbes answer: No, this concept is not only found in
the New Testament. It is found in Hosea. He says that He will
"betroth" us unto Him forever.
And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee
unto me
in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in
mercies.
I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt
know the
LORD.
And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD,
I will
hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;
And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and
they shall
hear Jezreel.
And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon
her that
had not obtained mercy; and I will say to [them which were] not
my people,
Thou [art] my people; and they shall say, [Thou art] my God. Hosea
2:19-23
Honorable mention goes to Sis. Petrina Miller with the following
answer:
It is throughout the old testament as well. The Song of Solomon
is considered to be the bridegroom speaking to His bride especially,
2:10-13, in which the bridegroom asks the bride to "rise up
(rapture) and come away ".... also, isaiah 26:20-21, speaks
of the bridegroom telling His people (bride) to come into His chambers
and hide until the indignation (tribulation) is passed. These are
just two examples of the bride/bridegroom concept for the Church
and Christ within the old testament

According
to the Bible, who sent Philip to speak to the high-ranking Ethiopian
eunuch? What was he reading and why is it important today?
The following answer was submitted by Sis. Shonda Rushing:
The angel of the Lord sent Phillip to Ethopia. The Eunuch was reading
from Isaiah 53:7,8 at the time when Phillip reached him. It is important
today because Phillip took that scripture and preached Jesus Christ
to that man and led him to the water in the name of Jesus.
It's important because we being saved need to know that what leads
people to the water is the preaching of the gospel, which is Jesus
Christ. We need to take the Word of God and show people Jesus. Jesus
Himself said that the scriptures testify of Him. Phillip helped
the Eunuch to see Jesus and the sacrifice He made, the suffering
He endured so that we could be saved..The love Jesus showed through
His suffering still leads souls to the water.
Acts 8:26-38
26 ¶ And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise,
and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem
unto Gaza, which is desert. 27 And he arose and went: and, behold,
a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen
of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had
come to Jerusalem for to worship, 28 Was returning, and sitting
in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said
unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30 And Philip
ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said,
Understandest thou what thou readest? 31 And he said, How can I,
except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would
come up and sit with him. 32 The place of the scripture which he
read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like
a lamb dumb before his shearer, sod he not his mouth: 33 In
his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare
his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34 And the
eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh
the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35 Then Philipd his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached
unto him Jesus. 36 And as they went on their way, they came unto
a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth
hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest
with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe
that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot
to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip
and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39 And when they were come
up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip,
that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
According
to the Bible who became "white as snow" (for badmouthing)
and in you opinion, why did God choose that particular punishment?
Scripture states that Miryam and Aaron spoke against Moses regarding
his wife.
Moses' wife was African. She was Ethiopian. (Numbers 12:1)
I think we can safely assume that Miryam's comment was regarding
the wife's dark skin, because God became extremely angry (verse
9) and punished Miryam by turning her skin TOTALLY WHITE!
God's punishment was swift that day because He loved his servant
Moses dearly (verses 7-8) and Moses' wife was surely loved by him.
Be careful what you say regarding God's people.
~Sis. Hadassah
1 ¶ And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian
woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath
he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.
3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were
upon the face of the earth.)
6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you,
I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and
will speak unto him in a dream.
7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not
in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold:
wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed.
10 ¶ And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold,
Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam,
and, behold, she was leprous.
Numbers 12
Sis.
Sonya submitted the following answer:
Miriam became the one that was white as snow. God had chosen that
particular
punishment in order to show Miriam who was His mouth piece. Aaron
could not
take the leprosy away, although he was the priest and he was ordained
to do
that because he did as Miriam and spoke against the man of God,
also. He
chose that particular sin to put her to shame in front of many.
She had to
go to Moses to get this particular punishment released from her,
the one she
had spoken against.God had given Moses this task because he was
given
leprosy in his hand by God(Exodus 4:6),to show him God's sovereign
ability,
then God took it away(Exodus4:7,8). Moses would have faith enough
to ask God
to deliver Miriam from her leprosy.
Therefore showing them that Moses is God's spokesperson. Miriam
was shut out
from the camp for 7 days(Numbers 12:14).
Numbers 12:10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and,
behold,
Miriam [became] leprous, [white] as snow: and Aaron looked upon
Miriam, and,
behold, [she was] leprous.

question: According to the Bible what does a pierced ear signify?
:
Piercing of the ear:
This is a sign that the individual is a slave.
Exodus 21:6: Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he
shall
also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master
shall
bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.
Hmm-m-m-m, there are a lot of slaves out there!

Question for Jan.30:
What did the Apostle Paul do to demonstrate to other believing Jews
that he still observed "the law"?
Deadline for submission was Sunday Jan.30, 2000
We received answers from Sis. Petrina
Miller and another who deserves honorable mention, Bro. Calvin Walker
from Mississippi.
Sis. Petrina's answer, "Acts 13:9 is the only scriptural
reference to Saul/Paul's name switch. Now there are other traditions,
but none have a scriptural reference. Paul was supposedly born in
1 AD, and he was in his late 30's, early 40's, when he was converted,
so AD 46-AD 48 should be the "when" of his name change,
if you are looking for a date. This occured just prior to his first
missionary journey with Barnabas and john mark.
One of the traditions of Paul/Saul is that since he was also a roman
citizen, he also had a roman name (Paul). After his conversion,
to help hide him from the (non-believing) Jews and to acquire Roman
sanctuary, he began to use his old name (Paul) for safety... just
a tradition, but no scriptural reference, other than his roman citizenship
which is mentioned several times, one of them being Acts 22:25"
Bro. Calvin Walker's answer: In Acts 13:9 is where the name
Paul is first associated with Saul. The time period is when Paul
and Barnabas were on the isle of Paphos when they caused blindness
to come upon Elymas for trying to turn Sergius Paulus from the faith.
The only other time the name Saul is used after Acts 13:9 is when
he speaks of his conversion in Acts 22:7, 13 and Acts 26:14.
Acts 13:9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the
Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,
Acts 26:14 And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice
speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why
persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against
the bricks.
Edtor's
Note:
Scripture doesn't state that Saul's name was ever actually "changed"
after his conversion, as in the case of Abram to Abraham or Jacob
to Israel:
Genesis 35:10 And God said unto him,Thy name is Jacob: thy name
shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy
name: and he called his name Israel.
"Shaul" or Saul was Apostle Paul's Hebrew name and Paul
was his non-Hebrew name. He is still known
today among Jewish Believers as "Rav Shaul".

Shonda submitted the following answer:
What Paul did to show the Jews that he observed the law was that
he shaved his head Acts 21:21-24, giving emphasis to verse 24 which
states:
"Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges
with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that
those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing;
but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law."
